How to Replace a Watch Battery (All Brands)

The complete 5-minute process, plus the cross-reference table for 377, 371, 364 and SR626.

First identify your cell: it is stamped on the existing battery. Common watch cells are silver-oxide 377 (SR626SW), 371 (SR920SW), 364 (SR621SW) and CR2032 for oversized models.

Open the back: screw-back watches need a small screwdriver; snap-backs need a case knife in the notch. Do not pry on the metal case edge — use the notch slot.

Remove the cell with plastic tweezers, note polarity (marked on the holder), and insert the new cell without touching the surfaces with fingers.

Refit the back, press the crown to verify the date-set, and check the gasket for water resistance. If the watch loses time immediately, the movement — not the cell — needs service.
