How to Choose the Right Battery for Your Device

Capacity, drain and size — the three dimensions that decide which battery is correct.

Start with the size: the holder decides AA/AAA/C/D or the coin cell reference. Then check the device voltage (1.5V, 3V, 9V) — never attempt a voltage mismatch.

Next is drain: high-drain devices (remotes with backlight, controllers, toys) want alkaline or lithium; clocks and smoke alarms are fine with carbon zinc.

For button cells, thickness matters more than capacity: a 20 mm CR cell comes in 1.6/2.5/3.2 mm — the holder must close without forcing.

When in doubt, our engineers match the exact reference from your device model and send samples — ask via the contact form.
