How to Replace a Car Key Fob Battery by Brand

Most fobs use a CR2032, CR2025 or CR2450 coin cell. Find the notch on the fob shell, insert a flat tool, and twist gently to open the two halves.

Remove the cell, note the number and orientation. Insert the new cell positive side up (marked + on the holder and the cell), then snap the case closed.

If the fob still does not work: re-seat the cell, clean contacts, or re-sync the key in the car (per the manual). Cells that died within months usually mean the fob stays in standby — check for water damage.
