CR2032 vs CR2025 vs CR2016: Which Coin Cell?

Same 20 mm diameter, three thicknesses — here is how to pick and why they are not always swappable.

All three are 20 mm 3V lithium cells. They differ in thickness: CR2016 = 1.6 mm (~90 mAh), CR2025 = 2.5 mm (~165 mAh), CR2032 = 3.2 mm (~220 mAh).

The device holder dictates the cell. A CR2032 holder will not close on a CR2025; a CR2016 in a CR2032 slot loses contact. When unsure, remove the old cell and match the thickness.

Buying tip: higher capacity is not automatically better — the correct thickness and polarity matter more. Keep the three SKUs sized for your fastest movers (CR2032 first).
